Jason was delighted to be invited to join Babyzone Barnet’s summer family community wellbeing event at the Unitas Youth Zone in Colindale.
The weekly sessions for families with pre-school children in the borough provides an opportunity for toddlers to learn through fun activities, and for the final session of the summer term, the organisers invited a range of other groups to share what they do with the families.
As well as Jason taking over their “book corner,” with What Can You See?, I Like To Put Food In My Welly and A Zoo In My Shoe – and the cuddly animals who help him read them, there were representatives from the local library services and other local organisations.
“With pre-school children, it’s often the toys that draw them in, rather than the books – but once they there, they get really engaged when they see Hannah Rounding’s illustrations in What Can You See?” Jason notes. “But at my second reading, some of the older children were a bit more advanced and were really laughing out aloud to I Like To Put Food In My Welly and A Zoo In My Shoe – which is so gratifying.”
“What a great resource Babyzone is for the community,” Jason added. “It felt great to be able to add to what they already offer.”
