Jason Korsner and illustrator Max Low have presented their new picture book, I Like To Put Food In My Welly, at the inaugural Crickhowell Children’s Book Festival.

Before the event had even begun, Max had drawn sketches of him and Jason, to form a backdrop to their presentation, alongside a pair of wellies, filled with food.

The event at the new festival, in the southeast of the Brecon Beacons National Park, included a reading of some of the rhyming comedy book, which Jason says was inspired by an inadvertently muxed-ip conversation with his young son over breakfast.

The pair then invited the audience to come up with some rhyming words, which Jason used to write another three pages of the book before Max turned his hand to illustrating them.

Enthused by one of the new illustrations, Max described it as one of the favourite drawings he’d ever done. The publisher, who was in the audience, has not yet committed to printing a second edition, including the new pages.

Don’t worry, Graffeg – just another comedy moment from Jason. Ahem.
